Published: November 1, 2013

Offering MBA programs that meet a variety of student needs, the College of Business Administration at CSULB has been named an outstanding business school by The Princeton Review and is featured in the 2014 edition of its recently released book The Best 295 Business Schools.

“We are extremely proud to be recognized by the prestigious Princeton Review because it signals that our programs are delivering excellent value to our students,” said Michael Solt, dean of the College of Business Administration. “Our faculty get all the credit for the teaching that makes our college one of the ‘Best 295 Business Schools’ in the country.”

Solt also noted that CSULB’s College of Business Administration is one of only 5 percent of schools worldwide to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International.

The 2014 Princeton Review publication highlights CSULB’s three MBA program options: the Saturday MBA, a 23-month sequence of courses that are scheduled on Saturdays for the convenience of full-time workers; the Self-Paced Evening MBA, a program that can be pursued either full- or part-time; and the 13-month Accelerated MBA, a full-time program for students eager to jump-start their business careers.

“We recommend Cal State Long Beach as one of the best institutions a student could attend to earn a business school degree,” stated Princeton Review’s Senior Vice President/Publisher Robert Franek. “We chose the schools we profile in this book based on our high regard for their academic programs and our reviews of institutional data we collect from the schools. We also solicit and greatly respect the opinions of students attending these schools who rate and report on their experiences at them on our 80-question student survey for the book.”

The Princeton Review tallied its list based on surveys of 20,300 students attending the 295 business schools profiled in the book.

Best 295 Business Schools

The Best 295 Business Schools has two-page profiles of the schools with write-ups on their academics, career and placement, student life and environment, and admissions. The profiles also have ratings (scores from 60 to 99) for academic experience, admissions selectivity, and career services. It also offers students advice on applying to business schools and funding the degree.

CSULB’s College of Business Administration profile says: “Students looking for the biggest ‘bang for the buck’ will appreciate California State University, Long Beach. Although ‘tuition and fees have gone up every semester, what we are getting in return is still a great deal.’”

The profile also notes that generally, students attend CSULB for its “smaller classes, good choice of different programs, (and) great location.” A student who is a military veteran says, “The VA program here is the best of any school I have seen.” Overall, students should come away from the school with “strong academics” as well as a “great sense of real life business experience.”
