Stan Finney, Geological Sciences, has been recognized as a Fellow of the Geological Society of America.

John Jung, Psychology, presented a talk, “A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to My Retirement Home: How A Psychologist Morphed into A Historian,” on Psych Day to the Psychology Students Association on April 27 and at the Chateau Cupertino Senior Residence in Cupertino on June 11. He presented a talk about his book, Sweet and Sour: Life in Chinese Family Restaurants, on May 21 at the Chinese American Museum of Chicago, to the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California in Los Angeles on June 1 and to the Culinary Society of Northern California at the Omnivore Bookstore in San Francisco on June 9. He also was elected to a two-year term on the Board of the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California.

Ingrid M. Martin, Marketing, was an invited speaker at a conference titled “Moral and Ethical Decision-making” on May 18-20, held at Queens College in Kingston, Ontario. Her talk was titled “Understanding the Risk Mitigation Decisions of Consumers Faced with the Uncertainty of Natural Hazards.”

Shira Tarrant, Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies, was an invited speaker at the Los Angeles Slutwalk, held on June 4 in West Hollywood. On June 9, she appeared on the Canadian Broadcast Corporation’s “Connect with Mark Kelley” discussing the controversial issues regarding the global Slutwalk movement, an international effort to end rape and victim blaming.

Terry Witkowski, Marketing, presented “Early Brand Development in the US Firearms Industry” at the Conference on Historical Analysis and Research in Marketing (CHARM) held in New York on May 19-22. He then presented “The Visual Politics of U.S. Firearms Culture” at the Marketing and Public Policy Conference held in Washington, D.C., June 2-4, and “Marketeando: Domesticating Marketing Education the ‘Peruvian Way’” (with Janice Denegri-Knott and Gina Pipoli) at the Annual Macromarketing Conference held at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Vir., June 5-8. At this last conference he also presented “Publishing in the Journal of Macromarketing” in a special session titled “Research Advice for Doctoral Students and Emerging Scholars.”
