Ukleja Center For Ethical Leadership Announces Awards

Published: May 16, 2011

Through one of its key initiatives, Ethics Across the Curriculum, the Ukleja Center for Ethical Leadership at CSULB has awarded $2,000 stipends to faculty members who integrate a three-hour ethics module into their courses.

The 2010-11 multidisciplinary faculty awardees are Mariné Aghekyan, assistant professor of family and consumer sciences, for Use of Child Labor in Fashion Merchandising and Design; Mary Gustin, assistant professor of family and consumer sciences, for Ethical Responsibility in Food Production and Commercial Food Service; Sudha Krishnan, associate professor of accountancy, for Ethics in Financial Reporting: Cooking the Books; Jerry Mosher, associate professor of film and electronic arts, for Ethics in Documentary Filmmaking; and Steve Wilson and Lisa Jennings, assistant professors of social work, for Approaches to Ethical Decision-Making in End-of-Life Care by Social Workers.

Recipients received their awards at a campus luncheon attended by faculty, staff, board member Louise Ukleja, and College of Business Administration Dean Michael Solt.

Ethics Across the Curriculum was initially made possible through a grant from The Boeing Company in 2005. The Ukleja Center has been funding the program since 2008. All CSULB colleges and disciplines are invited to participate and lecturers, as well as tenured faculty, are encouraged to apply. The application deadline for 2011-12 proposals is Oct. 28.
