Bowling for Books Fundraiser Set

Published: April 1, 2011

On Friday, April 15, the Forty-Niner Shops at CSULB will host the Third Annual Bowling for Books Scholarship Fundraiser. The bowling tournament is a part of its annual campaign to help raise money for textbook scholarships. To date, the event has raised more $180,000 for deserving CSULB students.

“The Bowling tournament helps fund scholarships for textbooks, which are often not included in financial aid programs,” said general manager Don Penrod. “We are happy to champion these fundraising efforts and provide much needed support for our students.”

All bowlers — students, staff, faculty and community members — are encouraged to solicit donations on behalf of the scholarship campaign. At the event, each bowler will receive three games, a shoe rental, a commemorative T-shirt, hosted refreshments, an awards reception, raffle and prizes. Registration deadline is Friday, April 8.

To register or to learn more about the bowling tournament visit the Bowling for Books site at or contact Linda Welty at 562/985-7700. To learn how your students can apply for this and other scholarships, visit the Center for Scholarship Information website.
