Published: April 15, 2010

On Friday, April 23, the Forty-Niner Shops at CSULB, in collaboration with Long Beach City College, will host the 2nd Annual Bowling for Books Scholarship Fundraiser at Cal Bowl in Lakewood, located at 2500 E. Carson St. Registration is scheduled from 1-2 p.m., bowling from 2-5 p.m., and an awards reception from 5-6 p.m. Proceeds raised on behalf of CSULB will go to the Scholarship Office to benefit CSULB students.

Bowlers — students, staff, faculty and community members — are encouraged to solicit donations on behalf of the scholarship campaign. At the event, each bowler will receive three games, shoe rental, a commemorative T-shirt, hosted refreshments, an awards reception, raffle and prizes. Registration deadline is Friday, April 16.

“This unique partnership with Long Beach City College will allow us to reach a broader base of students who need the financial assistance,” said Don Penrod, general manager of the Forty-Niner Shops. “We are proud to work with the community and our title sponsors to provide financial aid for our students.”
