Free “Healthy, Wealthy and Wise” Classes Set for Faculty/StaffPublished: October 1, 2009
CSULB will host “Healthy, Wealthy and Wise,” a six-week financial and estate planning course that will be held on consecutive Tuesdays from Oct. 6 through Nov. 10. Each class is scheduled from noon-1:30 p.m. and will be held in the Human Services Design Building, Room 113. Those in attendance are welcome to bring their lunches.
Presented by the Office of Estate and Gift Planning, the free classes are open to all faculty and staff, but openings are on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, you do not have to attend all six sessions, although it is encouraged.
The discussion will be led by CSULB’s Susan Berkman, assistant vice president for estate and gift planning, and Delia Fernandez, a certified financial planner.
“Once again, we are happy to provide this series for faculty and staff who want to learn about preparing for retirement, especially in today’s market,” Berkman explained. “We will be discussing retirement issues as well as covering a lot of different areas that will provide participants with general, basic information on estate planning.”
Topics to be covered include retirement investment strategies and plans—403(b)s, 401(k)s, TSAs, 457s; portfolio diversification—PERS, IRAs, stocks, bonds, funds, tax strategies; and asset protection through estate planning.
