College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

Science and mathematics play an increasingly important role in our society. The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) is educating the next generation of scientists and mathematicians, as well as a science-literate citizenry, through its outstanding teaching and research programs.

Students study in a state-of-the-art environment where classroom learning is enhanced by hands-on, inquiry-based laboratory and field experiences, and participation in faculty research projects. The 80,000-square-foot Molecular Life Sciences Center completed in 2004 includes 43 teaching and directed studies laboratories. A new 160,000-square-foot building scheduled for completion in 2010 will include lecture halls, faculty offices, and 17 additional laboratories.

CNSM offers 20 bachelor and master degree programs in six departments (Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geological Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, Mathematics, and Science Education), as well as two joint bachelor degree programs in Environmental Science & Policy.
