The sexual assault prevention education component of Not Alone @ The Beach and the Women's and Gender Equity Center

The Vision

A world free of gender-based sexual violence.

The Mission

The creation of a safer university community through increased awareness of the issues related to gender-based sexual violence, and the provision of tools and resources in the areas of prevention, education, advocacy and support regarding sexual misconduct, dating and domestic violence, stalking, and rape.

The Means

To clarify what constitutes rape, present preventive strategies, discuss the dynamics of rape, encourage women's and men's activism in addressing issues and finding solutions - and to let people know where to obtain help, the program manifests itself in several ways, including an extensive campus and community referral/resource network.

Major campus-wide programs in October (Domestic Violence Awareness Month) and April (Sexual Assault Awareness Month).

Assisting student organizations in finding specialists to present programs.

Networking with other campus and statewide offices and departments to identify additional resources and programs, thereby providing information exchange and support. Internship opportunities for students interested in developing related programs, pursuing research, or advocating for preventive strategies or for victims of violence.

Recognizing that other forms of violence against women, such as stalking, sexual harassment, and domestic violence, often include sexual violence or the threat thereof, these concerns are also included through Not Alone @ The Beach..

Taking Action to end all forms of gender-based sexual violence!
