Peer Education Program

Overview

The purpose of the Peer Education Program is to educate peers about preventing gender violence and reducing rape culture in the CSULB community while raising awareness about available resources for victims/survivors of sexual assault. Through student-centered outreach, programs, and workshops, the Peer Educators will create an inclusive support system on campus promoting safe, healthy behaviors and relationships. The Peer Education Program is coordinated by the Women’s and Gender Equity Center as part of the Not Alone at the Beach campaign.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to student organizations, academic classes, resource centers, and campus departments
  • Facilitate presentations on the topics of affirmative consent, gender violence, and healthy relationships
  • Assist WGEC staff in the coordination of all-campus programs and events such as Take Back the Night and the Clothesline Project
  • Raise awareness about resources for sexual assault victims/survivors through tabling, social media, and other publicity outlets
