During the year, Upward Bound traditionally sponsors the following events for its participants:
The purpose of the SCAL Tour is to provide an opportunity for the ninth and tenth grade students to visit various college campuses in the Southern California area and compare the environments, programs and services at each school during the fall semester.
The purpose of the NCAL Tour is to provide an opportunity for the eleventh grade students to visit various college campuses in the Northern California area for three days during the spring semester. They are able to compare the environments, programs and services at each school.
The Holiday Celebration is an event at which Upward Bound students who have graduated from high school and are currently attending college (UB alumni) come back to visit the program and participate in an alumni panel. They inform the current Upward Bound students of their college experiences and how Upward Bound affected them. The students also have the chance to ask questions about the alumni's college experiences.
The Multi-Cultural Celebration is a program designed to expose students to various cultures. It consists of activities such as dance performances, cultural fashion shows and programs that present guest speakers. The students are also given the opportunity to visit "Kaleidoscope," which is a yearly cultural celebration located on the campus of Cal State Long Beach.
