Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the Chicano / Latino Graduation Celebration (CLGC)?

The CLGC is a celebration and beautiful event that takes place the weekend before CSULB's Commencement week. The celebration recognizes all of our students' personal successes and academic achievements in the spirit and tradition of the Chicano/Latino culture.

What makes the CLGC so special?

The CLGC is dedicated to familia, comunidad, and cultura. Graduates have an opportunity to publicly thank those who have supported them throughout their educational career by writing a special dedication that will be read aloud as they walk across the stage. The celebration is also presented bilingually to accommodate both English and Spanish speakers. Dedications cannot be changed at any time. Whatever you type at the time of registration is what will be read at the celebration.

Who can participate?

Any CSULB student completing a degree in Fall 2016, Spring 2017, Summer 2017, or Fall 2017 may participate. Due to capacity issues, only the first 475 graduates who REGISTER and PAY, by 5:00 pm on Friday, April 21st, for each Session (Morning & Evening) will be able to participate in the Chicano/Latino Graduation Celebration.

I am NOT a Chicano Latino Studies major, can I still participate?

Absolutely. The CLGC is open to all CSULB graduating students.

What do I do on the day of the event?

Participants must arrive to the Red Entrance of the Pyramid to check-in, receive their sash, grad gift (mug), certificate, and dedication slip. We will also take a group photograph and line up for the procession.

If you registered for the Morning Session, you must check-in at 8:00 am.

If you registered for the Evening Session, you must check-in at 2:00 pm.

How many people can I invite?

Each graduate is given two complimentary guest tickets with registration. In addition, a maximum of 8 tickets may be purchased at the time of registrationGraduates are encouraged to purchase their 8 tickets at the time of registration. Tickets can only be purchased once, when you register.
