Student Life & Development

The Student Life and Development (SLD) Office Working Remotely Effective March 19, 2020

In light of the heightened concerns around COVID-19 and CSULB's decision to suspend in-person classes, SLD Advisors will work remotely until further notice. Our goal is to ensure that we can provide students with advising and assistance to successfully meet their goals. During this time, the SLD office will not be open for any in-person services (computer lab, tutoring, workshops), but we will maintain our normal advising hours online.

SLD advisors will be available online Monday - Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm starting March 19, 2020, until further notice.

Email Advising: Students can email their SLD Advisors listed below with questions regarding their student organizations. Please include your Name, Campus ID #, Phone #, student organization name, and any questions you may have.

Telephone Advising: Please email your SLD Advisor to schedule a telephone appointment.

Zoom Advising: Students can schedule a Zoom appointment by emailing their request to their SLD Advisor in advance.

Dear Student Organization Officers,

We want to provide you with some important updates. We thank you for patience and understanding as we focus on the health and safety of students, staff, and faculty.

  • All on campus Events and Meetings are cancelled through August 24th. You should have already received communication from the Campus Events Office or other campus venue operators regarding the cancellation of your reservation(s).
  • All non-essential student travel has been suspended per guidance from the CSU Chancellor's Office through July 31st. This travel suspension includes university-sponsored student organization travel.
  • Although our office is not involved in the approval or coordination of student organization off-campus activities, please consider the health and safety of your members and others as you evaluate whether these activities should take place or not.
  • We are in discussions with Associated Students, Incorporated to resolve the many funding concerns our student organizations have. Additional communication will be emailed as we receive updated information.

It is unfortunate we are being faced with this reality considering how hard you have all worked to offer programming and leadership opportunities for our campus community. We understand you may have questions or concerns; please don't hesitate to reach out to your SLD advisor. Our staff is here to help you and your organization.
