Meet Nancy Eckhous

After conducting a thorough search to fill the vacancy created by the December retirement of Paula Gleason, former director of administrative services for the Student Services Division, Vice President Doug Robinson recently announced the appointment of Nancy Eckhous to the position of assistant vice president for administrative systems and services.

A Michigan native, Eckhous has a 15-year connection with CSULB, having served as the university’s bursar since 1998. She brings a wealth of relevant experience to Student Services, including experience with the development of division and campus administrative systems, policies, procedures and protocols, and experience with the implementation and upgrading of various business systems, business process improvements and other operational efficiencies and cost saving initiatives. While serving as university bursar, Eckhous served on the Student Fee Advisory Committee, which is chaired by Vice President Robinson, where she was a passionate advocate for transparency in student fees.

Prior to her employment at CSULB, Ms. Eckhous worked for nine years as assistant controller for Knight-Ridder, Inc. – Press Telegram. She also worked for several years at PepsiCo, Inc.; Varco International; Grand Rapids Metropolitan Hospital; and Deloitte and Touche.
Eckhous’ educational preparation includes a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Michigan University. She also is licensed to practice as a certified public accountant by the State of California.
“I have been very fortunate to work with so many talented, student-focused colleagues in the Division of Administration and Finance,” Eckhous says. “I am looking forward to bringing my business system experience and passion for students to the Student Services Division.”

Of her appointment, Robinson states, “Nancy brings a unique blend of skills and abilities to her new assignment, not the least of which is the high regard with which she is held by colleagues in Student Services and Administration and Finance. I have always found her to be well prepared when called upon to resolve issues. In addition, she is personable, responsible and genuinely interested in the concerns of students, faculty, staff and members of the greater campus community. I am confident that she will be a tremendous asset to the Student Services Division.”
