Survivor Empowerment Group provides positive, non-judgmental support for individuals who in the past or recently suffered a sexual assault. In these group sessions offered at the Health Resource Center, Student Health Services, survivors are afforded an opportunity to come and discuss where they are in their healing process.
No longer must students remain quiet, keeping their pain a secret. Instead, in a safe environment, students can express themselves openly and honestly amongst others who understand the hurt, the grief and the confusion. Also invited are students who were victimized by sexual harassment and/or stalking. As a step forward, please come and share your experiences.
Sexual assault is all physical acts of a sexual nature that can take place without a personís consent, including touching, penetration with an object, anal penetration, and oral sex. Rape is a specific form of sexual assault that includes intercourse without consent.
Date/Acquaintance rape is rape or non-consensual sexual activity between people who are already acquainted, where consent for sexual activity was not given, or was given under duress.
Date rape drugs such as ketamine, GHB, and rohypnol (roofies) may be used to neutralize resistance or even render the victim unconscious.
