Residential Dining Options (Meal Plans)

49er Residential Dining offers a variety of meal plan choices to fit the needs of our residents. Each plan can be used at any of our three residential dining facilities.

All residents are required to select a meal plan to live in University Housing.

Meal Plans (Fall 2016- Spring 2017)

The Value Plan - 10 meals per week. Residents may enter any dining facility once per meal period and eat up to 10 meals per week. Unused meals are not refundable and do not carry over.

  • Double Room + Value Plan = $10,380
  • Triple Room + Value Plan = $9,386

The Traditional Plan - Includes 19 meals per week. Residents may enter any dining facility once per meal period and eat up to 19 meals per week. This plan is perfect for residents who remain on campus most weekends or those with active life-styles. Unused meals are not refundable and do not carry over.

  • Double Room + Traditional Meal Plan = $11,502
  • Triple Room + Traditional Meal Plan = $10,508

49er Balance Plan - This plan allows maximum flexibility in the residential dining halls, residential convenience stores and Forty-Niner Shop's retail dining locations and on campus convenience stores. This plan provides Dining Dollars per semester on the student's Beach Club Card/CSULB ID Card. Dining Dollars can be applied towards:

  • Meals in any of the residential dining facilities (Parkside, Hillside or Beachside) at the guest meal rate (Breakfast $6.50, Lunch/Brunch $8 and Dinner $10). The meal plan holder may bring up to three guests in the residential dining facilities.
  • Food at any of the Forty-Niner-Shops retail dining locations and convenience stores, charged at the regular retail value. For a complete list of locations visit
  • Double Room + 49er Balance Plan  = $11,682
  • Triple Room + 49er Balance Plan  = $10,688

7 Day All Access Plan - Designed for ultimate flexibility by offering unlimited meals at any residential dining facility anytime during operating hours. Enjoy a full meal or just a healthy snack; it's perfect for those eating multiple small meals a day for the nutritional and metabolic benefits. This plan is not transferable.

  • Double Room + 7 Day All Access Meal Plan = $11,954
  • Triple Room + 7 Day All Access Meal Plan = $10,960

Changing Meal Plans

The Student Housing License Agreement is for a full academic year, and the food service plans are non-transferable. However, changing between the meal plans is possible, but only during the last two weeks of the Fall semester. All of the food plan choices are designed to meet the various needs of the residents and the expectation that residents are not likely to attend every meal offered under either option.

Individual Meal Prices (Fall 2016- Spring 2017)

The Residential Dining Halls are open to the public and only cash is accepted for individual meal purchases. DIning Halls accept cash, credit card and Beach Bucks. The price per meal is:

  • Breakfast: $6.50
  • Lunch/Brunch: $8.00
  • Dinner: $10.00
