Office of the Vice President

Mary Ann Takeamoto, Interim Vice President for Student Services

Welcome to the Division of Student Services

The Division of Student Services provides high quality services and programs that contribute to the academic and personal success of CSULB students.  We have more than 35 university departments and programs that focus on the needs of students outside the classroom.

A few examples of our services include:

  • Welcoming incoming students through SOAR (Student Orientation and Retention).
  • Overseeing more than 300 clubs and organizations through Student Life and Development.
  • Preparing students for future employment through internships and job opportunities.
  • Sponsoring programs that promote a campus climate that is inclusive, civil, ethical and safe.

In addition, Student Services oversees services that promote health and wellness for students.  CSULB Student Health Services is an accredited facility that offers a range of medical services provided by a highly trained and experienced staff.  Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) counselors are available to help students cope with personal issues and stressors that are part of college life.

The Division of Student Services collaborates with students, staff, faculty and others in preparing students for a highly valued degree, graduate and professional studies, employment and responsible citizenship.  We are evidence-based in all we do, and proud to serve as primary advocates for our diverse student population.  We hope you will take a few minutes to browse our website and find information about services and activities that support your engagement with the campus.
