Academic advising is critical to student success. UCUA provides a variety of services to assist all academic advisors.
Academic advisors are encouraged to contact the Interim Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Studies with concerns and suggestions. Faculty and staff can also call UCUA at (562) 985-5296 for general advising assistance.
Advisor Training Opportunities
The University Center for Undergraduate Advising offers training courses for new and experienced staff and faculty advisors.
The full advisor training program is a range of dates over approximately three weeks that covers topics such as university policies and procedures, campus resources and populations, general advising best practices, as well as comprehensive training on eAdvising tools used at CSULB.
Training opportunities are also available for staff and faculty who are not in an advising role. Sessions can also be requested for specific topics by contacting either Daniel Gleason (eAdvising Coordinator) or Cody Arnold (Advisor Training Coordinator).
