he University Honors Program at California State University, Long Beach is committed to providing an academically enriched, community-minded, and culturally diverse environment for a diversely talented, premier group of highly qualified students. This program cultivates inclusive excellence, designed to offer students the best of a thriving liberal arts college experience alongside the opportunities afforded by a comprehensive university setting. University Honors Students are eligible for President’s Scholarships, the most prestigious merit-based scholarships awarded by CSULB.
The University Honors Program ensures students work closely with distinguished faculty advisors, and provides an array of opportunities including an Honors Residential Community, study abroad prospects, internships, and undergraduate research in the form of an honors thesis. These enhanced academic and civic engagement opportunities are sustained by a socially supportive program to ensure students are thoughtfully and rigorously guided through their education. Beyond this, our students are prepared for leadership roles, whether in the pursuit of advanced graduate degrees, and/or in personal and professional pathways in local and global settings.
University Honors students become part of a vibrant community dedicated to academic success and personal growth. By providing educational opportunities like scholarship and internship workshops, and library research seminars, The University Honors Program maximizes the undergraduate experience at CSULB. In addition, University Honors hosts a series of social, cultural and scholarly events throughout the semester, which present students with ample opportunities to actively engage in the University Honors community, and to find new friends on our large CSU campus. Honors House, located in Los Cerritos Hall, is a University Honors residential community that promises a transformational college experience.
Excellent, personalized advising ensures students navigate the University curriculum and University Honors priority registration provides early access to the classes they need on their road to graduation.
