Services Offered

ORSP has a skilled team of service-orientated professionals who support the success of researchers by providing a full range of administrative services including proposal preparation and submission, post award management, reporting and a regulatory compliance program. ORSP provides vision and support for the research, scholarly, and creative activities of CSULB faculty, students, and staff by offering services in the following areas:

 

Institutional

  • Aiding in the development and management of research and sponsored programs, from concept through service, delivery, and publication.
  • Supporting the development of new teacher-mentor models that integrate research and teaching in meaningful ways.
  • Fostering strategic alliances with community partners and external funding agencies.
  • Promoting intellectually rewarding collaborations among faculty, research partners and students in order to encourage interdisciplinary research.
  • Enhancing the funding competitiveness of researchers by proving professional development training in grantsmanship and research skills.
  • Developing new, and supporting existing, dedicated research Centers and Institutes.
  • Communicating with the University academic and administrative communities, including providing education and training, regarding grant and contract issues.
  • Assisting in the procedures for the development of limited institutional submissions
  • Administering internal funding to support student and faculty research and scholarly activity
  • Advocating and promoting recognition of research and scholarly activity

 

Pre-Award

  • Offering up-to-date information on grant and contract opportunities,
  • Working with faculty to actively identify and develop funding opportunities to support research and other scholarly programs.
  • Processing proposals as accurately and efficiently as possible, meeting deadlines, assuring that all project and university costs are covered.

 

Award Acceptance and Post-Award

  • Acting as liaison with the sponsor to represent the best interests of the PI and the University.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to assure the protection of University interests, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Reviewing, negotiating and accepting awards (grants, contracts, subcontracts) that contribute to the interests and goals of the University, Department, and PI(s).
  • Processing award actions and project/program expenditures in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Providing reports to sponsors, government, and/or University administration as needed/required.
  • Providing support for audit functions as needed or required for either internal or external oversight.
  • Managing audit programs to assure on-going compliance with approved protocols.

 

Compliance

  • Ensuring that proposed projects/programs and awards meet compliance requirements with Federal, State and University regulations.
  • Providing training to faculty on compliance issues
