The deadline to apply for most 2015-16 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program awards is Friday, August 1.
The program offers nearly 600 awards in teaching, research, or a combination of teaching and research in over 125 countries. Opportunities are available for college and university faculty and administrators as well as for professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, independent scholars, and many others.

Staff Council is holding the third annual Back-to-School Backpack Drive to help local children at the Long Beach Rescue Mission. You can help by purchasing a new, solid color backpack and filling it with the following supplies or just making a donation.
Backpacks can be dropped off in Staff HR (BH-335) now through August 20 or at Staff Day on August 6. Call extension 5-8716 to arrange for a backpack to be picked up or for additional information.

Organized by Research Infrastructure in Minority Institutions (RIMI), both seminars will be held from 9 am to 4 pm at the Center for Behavioral Research and Services, 1090 Atlantic Avenue.

Starting tomorrow, July 17, at 12 pm, a weekly walking group will meet outside the north entrance of the LifeFit Center for a 30- to 45-minute walk through campus.
Led by LifeFit Center Director Ayla Donlin, the walking group is free to join and participants do not need to be LifeFit members.
CSULB is well represented at City Hall, with the mayor, five of the nine city councilmembers and the city auditor all holding degrees from The Beach.
In addition, 7th District Councilman Roberto Uranga also attended CSULB. His wife, former City Councilmember Tonia Reyes Uranga, is also an alum.
Garcia, Doud, Gonzalez, Price and Uranga were sworn into office yesterday.
Other Long Beach City Council members include 2nd District Councilwoman Suja Lowenthal; 5th District Councilwoman Stacy Mungo; 8th District Councilman Al Austin and 9th District Councilman Rex Richardson.
