With Thanksgiving just a few days away, I would like to thank you for all that you do to contribute to the special place that is CSULB.
I am thankful for the remarkable diversity of our campus, which seeks to be welcoming to all students, faculty and staff who enrich our environment by bringing together people of many races, religions, ethnicities, sexual orientations and disabilities.
I am thankful for our student success accomplishments, including record freshman and transfer graduation rates, the result of dedication and hard work of faculty and staff across the campus. The whole campus can be proud of these accomplishments.
I am thankful for our outstanding faculty who continue to wow me with their scholarly, research and creative accomplishments. You can find many of their achievements in the Academic Affairs Annual Report.
I am thankful that our outstanding faculty continues to guide our students to high achievement. A few recent highlights include:
I am thankful for the amazing music of the Cole Conservatory which you can hear on December 7 and 8 when more than 200 singers from all five CSULB choirs will ring in the holidays with seasonal songs at the Winter Festival Concert at First Congregational Church.
I am thankful for the outstanding work of our art students, which you can see firsthand at the Holiday Art Show, December 1 – 5 in the CSULB Student Art Galleries.
I am thankful for the many academic programs and centers that provide valuable service to our surrounding diverse communities.
I am thankful to our University Police for their work in keeping our campus safe and making us the ninth most secure campus in the U.S. (Security Magazine’s Secure 500 Rankings).
I am thankful for our staff in facilities and grounds-keeping, who continue to make CSULB one of the most beautiful campuses in the nation, a park-like environment.
I am thankful for our staff members (many student-staff) who cheerfully and politely serve us every day in the bookstore, food services and other venues around campus.
I am thankful to each and every faculty and staff person who has worked hard to make CSULB a very special campus. Thank you for your ongoing support of our students, our mission, and our campus. I wish you and your families a joyful, relaxing Thanksgiving holiday.
