Reception for New Global Studies Institute April 10
Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend a reception for CSULB’s new Global Studies Institute (GSI) on Wednesday, April 10, at 4:30 pm in the Karl Anatol Center (AS-119).
The GSI will complement the efforts of the Center for International Education and the Academic Senate’s International Education Committee, serving as an all-university conduit to help link international education efforts in their myriad forms around the campus and to facilitate college and department internationalization initiatives. Applications for Faculty-in-Residence Program
The CSULB Office of Housing and Residential Life is accepting applications for its 2013-2014 Faculty-in-Residence Program. This program provides tenured and probationary faculty with a unique opportunity to live and interact with students in the residence halls at CSULB. Such interaction has proven to enhance student success.
Faculty-in-Residence (FIR) are expected to have 10 contact hours with student residents per week during the academic year. These interactions include participation in student and residential staff events, provision of academic support services such as tutoring and advising, coordination of educational and social events, and social interactions in the residence halls.
Compensation includes an unfurnished studio apartment within a residence hall in University Housing and 19 meals per week during the academic year when the dining halls are open for both the faculty member and their spouse/domestic partner. Contracts are for 1 academic year and only tenured and probationary faculty are eligible to apply.
Due to the nature of the facilities, children and pets cannot be accommodated.

Faculty Proposals for Alternative Spring Break Due April 12
The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) has extended the deadline for faculty proposals for Alternative Spring Break 2014.
Faculty are invited to submit proposals for the one-week spring break program that fits into the 300I course, as well as a syllabus that aligns the program with the course work.
Proposal guidelines and additional information are available online. The deadline to submit proposals is Friday, April 12 at 5 pm. Proposals may be submitted electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org or dropped off at AS-127.
