Assistant Professor of Kinesiology (Athletic Training)

Effective Date

August 19, 2019 (Fall Semester)

Salary Range

Commensurate with qualifications and experience

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D or Ed.D in Kinesiology or Exercise Science or closely related field with expertise in athletic training and exercise science
  • Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2019.
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer (in good standing).
  • Evidence of athletic training clinical / practical experience.
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching, research and other scholarly and creative activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of successful undergraduate and/or graduate teaching in athletic training
  • Knowledge of CAATE standards and athletic training education curriculum
  • Focused research agenda with a record of research publications/presentations.
  • Potential to develop/obtain grants and external funding.
  • Evidence of ability to work with diverse colleagues in a department, college, and university collaboratively, effectively, and successfully.
  • Evidence of professional and leadership activities.

 

Duties

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate classes in athletic training for the CAATE accredited program.
  • Develop and revise curriculum in Athletic Training to reflect contemporary disciplinary discovery and trends.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Director and faculty for accreditation compliance, program management, curriculum development, and advancement of the professional degree program.
  • Conduct and publish research, scholarly and creative activities in area of expertise.
  • Promote and direct undergraduate research.
  • Supervise graduate student research and theses, projects and/or comprehensive examinations.
  • Participate in service to the department, college, university, and profession or community.

Required Documentation

  • A Student Success Statement about your teaching or other experiences, successes, and challenges in working with a diverse student population (approximately one page, single-spaced)
  • Letter of application addressing the minimum and desired/preferred qualifications
  • CV (including current email address)
  • Three to five current references or letters of recommendation
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness such as student evaluations, peer evaluations or performance reviews.
  • Evidence of professional activity, research and publications such as copies of journal articles, conference presentations or other publications.
  • Copy of transcript from institution awarding highest degree
  • Current copy of BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Finalists will also be required to submit a signed SC-1 form, three to five current letters of recommendation (if not already submitted), and an official transcript.
