Assistant Professor of Human Development

Effective Date

August 19, 2019 (Fall Semester)

Salary Range

Commensurate with qualifications and experience

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph. D. in Human Development or an allied field such as Gerontology, Sociology, Psychology and Anthropology
  • Degree at time of application or official notification of the completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2019 
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to effectively teach undergraduate courses in Human Development
  • Record of or demonstrated potential for successful research and publication
  • Research and teaching focus on Aging in Diverse Populations within a life-course/developmental perspective
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to teach specialized courses on aging in diverse populations within a life-course/developmental perspective
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses from an interdisciplinary perspective
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor student research
  • Demonstrated training in Gerontology or Aging in Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, or Other Disciplines
  • Specific area of research should focus on topics relevant to aging and well-being, and sociocultural factors such as ethnicity, sexual identity, gender and socioeconomic status that affect experiences of aging in later life.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct research leading to publication in areas relevant to the department’s mission
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary context
  • Evidence of or potential for department, college, university, and community service

 

Duties

  • Teach courses in Human Development and/or appropriate area(s)
  • Supervise undergraduate students in research and fieldwork
  • Engage in scholarly activities leading to publication
  • Participate in service to department, college, university and community.

Required Documentation

  • A Student Success Statement about your teaching or other experiences, successes, and challenges in working with a diverse student population (approximately one page, single-spaced)
  • Letter of application addressing the minimum and desired/preferred qualifications
  • Statement of research addressing current and future program of research
  • CV (including current email address)

  • Copy of transcript from institution awarding highest degree
