Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in public health, health promotion, health education, or a closely-related discipline from an accredited school.
  • Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2018.
  • Demonstrated potential effectiveness and excellence for teaching. Demonstrated potential for conducting research, scholarly and creative activities.
  • Ability to teach courses in health promotion and risk reduction, health education, community health education, and other classes in the Health Science major and Public Health specialization.
  • Demonstrated potential for curriculum development in Health Science and Public Health.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.


Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting population-based studies for the understanding of the occurrence and control of diseases affecting vulnerable populations.
  • Experience or training in the field of biostatistics.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity in public health research.
  • Experience with hybrid and online learning modalities



  • Provide high-quality instruction in the Department of Health Science.
  • Develop a research agenda with high-quality outcomes and disseminate them in academic publications and discipline-specific conferences.
  • Apply for and obtain external funding.
  • Participate in the development of undergraduate and graduate curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively within these institutional levels: the department, college, and university.
  • Participate in service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.
