Assistant Professor of Terrestrial Vertebrate Biology

Effective Date

August 20, 2018 (Fall Semester)

Salary Range

Commensurate with qualifications and experience

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in the Biological Sciences with training and postdoctoral research experience in Terrestrial Vertebrate Biology;
  • A record of research productivity;
  • Demonstrated ability to seek external research funding;
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching in vertebrate biology;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • A strong field-based research program that includes a cutting-edge technological or quantitative component;
  • At least one year of postdoctoral experience;
  • A record of extramural research support;
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching of courses in ornithology or herpetology as well as vertebrate zoology and statistics;
  • Demonstrated interest in increasing the participation of underrepresented students in STEM fields.

 

Duties

  • Teach courses in organismal and quantitative biology and the undergraduate and graduate biology core curricula;
  • Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program in Vertebrate Biology that involves undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) students;
  • Participate in service to the department, college, university, and community.

  • Three confidential letters of recommendation submitted directly by references to VertBioSearch@csulb.edu
  • Copy of transcript from institution awarding highest degree
  • Reprints of up to three representative publications
  • A statement of research interests
  • A statement of teaching philosophy. 
  • Finalists will also be required to submit a signed SC-1 form and an official transcript.
