Assistant/Associate Professor of Mathematics Education

Ph.D. in Mathematics Education (or the equivalent) with the equivalent of a master's degree in mathematics, or a doctorate in Mathematics with scholarly work and significant experience in mathematics education; degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2017. Familiarity with the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. Record of (or evidence of potential for) effective scholarly activity and teaching in mathematics education. Ability and willingness to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate mathematics education courses. Previous involvement with K-16 mathematics education, which can include professional development. Commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.
Experience in obtaining external funding and/or experience with the external funding process for mathematics education projects. Experience in (or evidence of potential for) teaching graduate courses in mathematics education. Experience in teaching and supervising students preparing to teach mathematics at the secondary level. Experience in teaching K-12 mathematics in public schools. Knowledge of technology and its roles in mathematics education at the K-16 levels. Experience in mentoring students with mathematics education research. Experience in obtaining external funding for mathematics education related projects. Membership and leadership activity in professional organizations related to mathematics and/or teacher education (e.g., AERA, RUME, NCTM).
Teach courses in undergraduate and/or graduate programs in mathematics education. Establish and maintain an appropriate program of scholarly activity in the field of mathematics education. Assist and share in committee assignments and development of future curriculum related to K-16 mathematics education. Support K-16 professional development, and/or possibly seek external funding for such purposes. Membership and activity in appropriate professional organizations.
Depending on applicant experience, the possibility to assume the Richard D. Green Endowed Professorship in Mathematics Education either upon hire or at a later date following promotion to Associate Professor.
