Master’s degree in Geography or closely related field
Specialization in GIS, with experience in GIS lab management
Experience working in an enterprise GIS environment with multiple user connections
Demonstrated potential for effective teaching
Experience administering spatial database systems
Ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
Effective college or university teaching experience in GIS or closely related field
Expertise in relevant professional/technical fields, and prior experience or familiarity with California State University system
Experience managing students and/or staff
Experience supporting grant funded research
Experience in the setup, management, and design of ArcGIS server, publishing map documents.
This position will be approximately 40% teaching and 60% GIS lab management.
Teach available introductory undergraduate level courses (3 – 6 units) as needed.
The successful candidate will be expected to manage our GIS/Remote sensing teaching and research labs. This includes but not limited to the following: supervise student lab-technicians who are hired to assist undergraduate and graduate students; interact with students to address student lab and GIS-related issues; oversee computer software and hardware configuration, work closely with technical groups regarding lab and server configurations, and work with faculty to design setup; manage and maintain the database systems architecture to serve faculty and student needs, and access to a variety of geospatial datasets.
Conduct special projects for the Chair of Geography and Director of the Masters in Geographic Information Science (MSGISci).
