Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design (code DESNBF01)

This degree was recommended by the Academic Senate on May 1, 2008,  
approved by the President on May 20, 2008 and 
approved by the Office of the Chancellor on April 15, 2009.

 

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design will prepare the student who will eventually seek a master's degree or a position as a professional designer. The BFA program is a rigorous and competitive one. Portfolios are reviewed in the spring semester for fall admission, and junior standing, into the upper-division program.

 

Requirements

132 units, including 84 units for the major.

Lower Division: AH 111A, 111B; DESN 120A, 120B, 132A, 132B, 141, 142, 151, 232, 241, 242, 243, 244, 245, 246, 256.

Upper Division: DESN 341 A, 341 B, 342, 343, 346, 367, 369, 440, 441 A, 441 B; eight units of design/art electives, outside of Interior Design approved by the major adviser.

Approved lower-division and upper-division electives to total 132 units.

Students must achieve "C" or better in each required design course to progress in the sequence of study.
