BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS
IN DANCE
Obsolete Policy
This academic program was recommended by the Academic Senate May
19, 1988, by the
President on Jun 3, 1988, and approved by the Chancellor on August
11, 1989.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance is hte first professional degree
in Dance in the CSU. The primary objective of the degree program
is to prepare graduates for positions as performers and/or choreographers
in dance companies, on the stage, and in film and television.
The program also will prepare students for entry into Master of
Fine Arts in Dance programs.
Preparation: All students wishing to pursue
the B.F.A. in Dance must demonstrate advanced technical and/or choregrapher
skill in dance.
Requirements for the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance:
Semester units required: 70 units, plus 9 structured General
Education courses.
Lower Division: DANC 100, 114B, 120, 131,
212A, 212B, 220, A/P 107.
Upper Division: DANC 312A, 312B, 320, 331,
350A, 360, 361, 373I, 375 or 470, 380A or 380B, 381A or 381B, 414A,
420, 442A, 442B, 480A or 481B, 481A or 481B, 485, 488, 491A, 491B,
485, and courses selected from C/LT 250, 324I, 411, 412; ART 100,
112A, 112B, 360I; PHIL 361.
