Policy Statement - 86-06 Leisure Counseling, Graduate Certificate Program in

This curricular program was recommended by the Academic Senate in its meeting of March 20, 1986 and received the concurrence of the President on April 10, 1986. 

Subject: GRADUATE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IN LEISURE COUNSELING

Admission/Prerequisites: 

Persons holding a bachelor's or master's degree in Recreation or Therapeutic Recreation or a closely related allied health field, e.g., Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, Gerontology, Psychology, Adapted Physical Education, Counseling. 

Two years verified experience in counseling approved by the program advisor. 

Certificate Requirements: 

1. Satisfactory completion of 25 units of coursework which must include: 

a. Recreation 402/502, 411, 503, 588, 590; 
b. Educational Psychology 434, 532, 533; 
c. Electives, selected in consultation with the program advisor, 3 units.
