BACHELOR ARTS IN THEATRE ARTS GENERAL OPTION (code 2- 5844)

This academic program was recommended by the Academic Senate in its meeting of October 3, 1985, received the concurrence of the President on October 10, 1985, and was approved by the Chancellor on January 21, 1986.

 The General Option in the Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts provides the opportunity for the student to gain a broad exposure to the discipline. The curriculum requires study in Acting, Technical and Design crafts, the History, Literature and Criticism of Theatre, and in general Directing as well as Children's Theatre. 

Course Requirements: 

Core: 
Lower Division (14 units): THEA 100, 114A, 142, 144, 146, 148; 

Upper Division (21 units): THEA 321, 322, 346, 374, 476. 

Option IV -- Theatre Arts - General: 

Choose six units in each of the following four categories for a total of twenty-four units: 

(A) Acting: THEA 112, 114B, 214, 216, 262, 331, 352; 

(B) Tech/Design: THEA 341, 342, 385, 444, 446, 448; 

(C) History/Literature/Criticism: THEA 313, 324IC, 325IC or 326IC, 353, 380, 426; 

(D) Directing/Childrens Theatre: THEA 356, 358, 375, 431, 452, 474.
