SUBJECT: Clinical-Rehabilitative Services Credentials, Catalog Statement

The following policy statement, recommended by the Academic Senate at its meeting of March 31, 1977, approved by the President on April 14, 1977, and approved by the Commission for Teacher Preparation and Licensing on June 30, 1977, is as follows:

Clinical-Rehabilitative Services Credentials

These credentials authorize service in public schools in California as either a Language, Speech, and Hearing Specialist or as a School Audiologist. Persons seeking this authorization must (1) major in Communicative Disorders, (2) be admitted to the Professional Program in Communicative Disorders, and (3) be admitted to the Graduate Program in Speech Pathology or Audiology.

Competencies for the credential are obtained by completing the following courses:

Persons desiring to obtain advanced specialization as a Language, Speech, and Hearing Specialist must demonstrate the competencies through the following courses:

EdP 486A(5)

(Minimum of 100 clinical clock hours with language, speech and hearing handicapped children in a public school setting.

C.D. 469, 479, 669

(As many units as necessary to complete a minimum of 200 clinical clock hours with language, speech, and hearing handicapped children.) Persons desiring to obtain advanced specialization as an Audiologist for public schools must demonstrate the compentencies through the following courses:

C.D. 469 (1) 
C.D. 479 and 679 
(As many units as necessary to complete a minimum of 100 clinical clock hours in other settings with children having hearing disorders.)
