  • Learning Skills drop-in sessions have already begun. Stop by from 9 -12 on Mondays or Thursdays.
  • The first day of Tutoring will be Monday, February 1st.
  • The first day of Language and Writing Tutoring will be Monday, February 1st. WPE Workshops at the LAC start Feb. 8th

The Mission of the Learning Assistance Center

The Learning Assistance Center (LAC) at California State University, Long Beach provides our diverse student population with the tools needed for academic success. Empowering students to cultivate the skills, strategies, and behaviors of confident, independent, and lifelong learners, the LAC contributes to the university’s focus on student-driven learning, and increased retention and graduation rates.

director                Director's Message:  I would like to welcome you to the Learning Assistance Center (LAC) this Spring 2016 semester! Established in 1972, the LAC has an illustrious history as the first campus-wide learning assistance support system in higher education. We are made up of four programs: Language and Writing (ESL) Tutoring, Learning Skills, Supplemental Instruction, and Tutorial Services (which is nationally certified by the College Reading and Learning Association). The staff of the Learning Assistance Center is here to help you achieve academic progress, and meet your academic and professional goals. This semester we are pleased to offer FREE drop-in tutoring, in addition to appointment based individual tutoring.
