101. Fundamentals of Filipino (4)

Prerequisite/Corequisite: One GE Foundation course.
Introduction to the pronunciation, grammar, essential vocabulary, reading, and conversation of modern standard Filipino.

102. Fundamentals of Filipino (4)

Prerequisite: One GE Foundation course which may be taken concurrently, and competency for FIL 101.
Introduction to the pronunciation, grammar, essential vocabulary, reading, and conversation of modern standard Filipino. For non-native and heritage speakers. Not open to native speakers of Filipino.
Letter grade only (A-F).

201. Intermediate Filipino (4)

Prerequisite: FIL 102 or competency equivalent to FIL 102.
Continuation of fundamentals of Filipino language. Further development of grammar, reading, writing, and conversation skills. Exploration of cultures, history, and contemporary society of the Philippines. For non-native and heritage speakers, not open to native speakers of Filipino.
Letter grade only (A-F).

202. Intermediate Filipino (4)

Prerequisite: FIL 201 or competency equivalent to FIL 201.
Continuation of fundamentals of Filipino language. Further development of grammar, reading, writing, and conversation skills. Exploration of cultures, history, and contemporary society of the Philippines. For non-native and heritage speakers of Filipino.
Letter grade only (A-F).
