Office of Student Conduct and Ethical Development

The Office of Student Conduct and Ethical Development (USU 224) provides assistance with the interpretation and enforcement of campus regulations. Complete copies of the CSULB "Campus Regs," including a listing of infractions which may result in student disciplinary action under Title 5, Section 41301, of the California Code of Regulations, “Probation, Suspension and Expulsion of Students,” are available in this office; also available are copies of Executive Order 970, “Student Conduct Procedures.” General assistance and aid in directing individuals to the proper procedures, departments and personnel may be obtained in this office.

Alleged violations are investigated primarily through informal office conferences with the involved students. The conferences which are held as a result of impending disciplinary action are:

  • 1. To clarify the referral, the charges, or the circumstances involved;
  • 2. To prevent the incidence of, or further occurrences of, violations; and
  • 3. To educate as a preventive experience and to indicate the possible consequences as a result of committing a violation. Discussion is centered on the cause-and-effect relationship of various courses of action and, when possible, alternate paths or solutions are explored.
