The New BeachBoard Course Merge Request

A course merge applies if an instructor would like to combine the rosters of two or more classes (or sections of a class), so that the instructor only needs to post content, communications, etc. in one course . A course merge will not merge course content.  It will only merge the course enrollment.

To request that the roster(s) of one or more sections be merged into *a new section*, please fill in the form below.

*New BeachBoard Process:*  Two or more courses will now be merged into a new course.  Once the courses are merged, the SOURCE COURSE(S) will be made unavailable, and an instructor will need to maintain the newly created course with its combined enrollments.

Steps on how to fill in the form below:

For your ease, we will summarize one method:

  1. Access one of your courses from My Home > My Courses and Organizations.
  2. Click on Edit Course.
  3. Copy the course ID associated with the course shell that you would like to include in the course merge.
  4. Course ID format: CSULB_2112_LBCMP_COUR_123_SEC01_COUR123SEC01
    1. The course ID within the Edit Course area is highlighted within the red lines.

    2. If you are unable to locate the Course ID, please contact the Technology Help Desk for assistance.
  5. * Provide a title for the new course, for example, "PSY 100 Sections 1-3." *
  6. Click Submit.

When the Course Merge is complete you will receive an email.

Note: Course Merges can take up to 48 hours to process.
