Software Depot Installation Policy

This software application may be installed on campus-owned computers by authorized campus techs. Faculty and staff may install one copy on a home computer where they have exclusive use. This software may only be used for university business.

System Requirements

Windows System Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 8 and newer (32-bit and 64-bit), or Windows Server 2012 R2
  • .NET 4.0 Full or later
  • 4 GHz single core processor (2.4 GHz dual core required for video capture)
  • 1 GB of RAM (2 GB required for video capture)
  • 300 MB of hard-disk space for program installation
  • Windows 7 compatible video and audio hardware
  • Video capture on Windows 7 N requires the Media Feature Pack for Windows 7 N

Mac OS X System Requirements

  • 9 (Mavericks), or higher


The installation of Snagit is a two-step process:

Step One: Download a Snagit Software Key from the CSULB Software Depot

  1. Log into the CSULB Software Depot.
  2. Click on "Start Shopping" and select Snagit.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions and, when you have reached the "Receipt" page, copy the Snagit Software Key.

Step Two: Download the Snagit installation program from Techsmith

  1. Go to the TechSmith website.
  2. Download and run the installation program for the 15 day trial of Snagit for Windows or Mac
  3. When the installation of Snagit is complete, the program will ask if you want to continue the trial, unlock, or purchase the software - select Unlock and enter in your Snagit Software Key from step one.
