Pacific Standard Time has been selected to perform at the American Choral Directors Association 2015 Conference in Salt Lake City. This is their second consecutive invitation to the ACDA National Conference.

Chris Rountree to Conduct La Jolla Symphony

Chris RountreeAlumnus Chris Rountree has been engaged to conduct the La Jolla Symphony May 2-3, 2015. The concert is entitled “… on the nature of the space between us all” and includes Bernstein, Symphony No. 1; Yeung-Ping Chen, The Moon in La Jolla (Thomas Nee Commission); and Ives, Symphony No. 2.

Yeung-Ping Chen will write an Internet-based piece that will allow a group of soloists to be channeled into Mandeville Auditorium through telematics technology.

Dan Kaneyuki Signs with RS Berkeley

Alumnus Dan Kaneyuki has been signed as a RS Berkeley Artist. S Berkeley has an extensive philanthropic history. They have partnered with Jazz at Lincoln Center Education Department; VH1 Save The Music; Horns to Havana; Jazz House Kids; Litchfield Performing Arts; The Artists Collective; Tucson Jazz Institute (TJI) Community Music School; New York Jazz Academy; New Jersey Youth Jazz Orchestra; and the Show Choir National Championship Series.

Alan Shockley Premieres Piece for Shakuhachi and Harp

Dr. Alan Shockley was featured on the Camac Art Centre Facebook page. He just completed a month-long residency at the French Artist’s Colony where he completed a piece for shakuhachi and microtonally retuned harp with an ensemble of flute, clarinet, piano, percussion, violin, arpeggione (bowed guitar), and cello. The work is entitled “in oceangreen of shadow,” a line from the “Sirens” episode of James Joyce’s Ulysses. The work was premiered in May in Daniel Recital Hall.
