Jules Massenet's ChÉrubin

David Anglin and Ioannis Protopapas—conductors, Eli Villaneuva—stage director.

Jules Massenet’’s delightful comic opera, Chérubin, comes to Long Beach April 7-9 when the Opera Institute presents Massenet’s intriguing continuation of the story of young Cherubino—a character made famous in opera circles in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro. Chérubin picks up with his story later, with Cherubino still a slave to his romantic infatuations. The opera features the sumptuous melodies of turn-of-the-century France, though this production will be set in Spain at the dawn of the 20th century. Sung in French with English supertitles, Chérubin is a fully-staged production accompanied by full orchestra.
