Brass Ensemble and Chamber Music

Rob Frear, director.

The University Brass Ensemble is made up of the finest brass students at the Bob Cole Conservatory. With a repertoire that spans 6 centuries, this semester’s offerings include music by Bruce Broughton, Anthony DiLorenzo, Giovanni Gabrieli and Verne Reynolds. Faculty Artist Gabriel Sears (tuba) will join Rob Frear (trumpet) in a rare live performance of Signals for Solo Trumpet, Solo Tuba, Five Trumpets & Five Horns. Rounding out the program are performances by the University Trombone Ensemble and our excellent brass quintets.

Mendelssohn: Elijah, Op. 70

Jonathan Talberg will lead the combined forces of the Conservatory in the monumental and well-loved oratorio Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn. Emilio Valdez, baritone, will be the featured soloist.

A pre-concert Alumni Reception will begin at 7:00pm in the Carpenter Performing Arts Center.

Video Game Music & Sound Symposium May 13.

Saturday, May 13 9:00am-5:00pM; Concert 8:00pm
Video Game Music & Sound Symposium

Supported by an Entertainment Industry Initiative grant from the California State University Entertainment Alliance, this one-day symposium for CSU students and community members will culminate with a concert by the Bob Cole Conservatory Symphony performing music from popular video game scores.

Guests from the Video Game Industry representing composers, sound designers, sound editors, and management from Blizzard, Riot Games and more will give presentations and panel discussions.
