Scheduled Comprehensive Advising Appointments

Twenty-minute advising appointments can be booked up to two weeks in advance by logging into Beach Connect on Single Sign-On (click link above). Beach Connect will only display advising availability that does not conflict with your class schedule.

**Appointments are generally available Monday-Friday via Zoom from 9:00am-4:00pm. In-person appointments can also be made for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00am-4:00pm.

Appointment Location

Kirsten Sumpter’s office is located in DC-F105 in the office block behind the Daniel Recital Hall down the stairs to the right, on the first floor. See the BCCM map for location.

For online Zoom appointments, a Zoom link will be included in your appointment confirmation.

Comprehensive Advising Appointments are appropriate for:

  • Schedule and graduation planning
  • Comprehensive GE & major advising
  • Probation, Disqualification, and Reinstatement
  • Timely Graduation Appeals
  • Adding a Minor
  • Any other advising concerns/questions

First-Year and Transfer Mandatory Advising

All First-Time/First-Year (Fall 2023) and Transfer (Spring 2024) Students will have required advising in March. We will cover your degree requirements and schedule. Please do not schedule individual appointments until you have completed your mandatory advising requirement.

Music Minor

Requirements for the minor can be found in the Undergraduate and Graduate Catalog. The minor is a general music minor and does not include private lessons or concentrations in performance or music technology.

In order to declare a minor in Music:

  • You must have a minimum 2.5 GPA (Overall, CSULB, and Major)
  • You must be fully declared in your major (no pre-majors)
  • You must be able to complete the minor within the University’s Timely Graduation Policy
  • You are encouraged to complete or be enrolled in at least one course in the minor before declaring
  • You must complete your first term at CSULB with a minimum 2.5 GPA prior to requesting a minor
