September 19th @ 4:00pm UMC-C403
The Music History area welcomes Eric Hung, Associate Professor of Music at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey. Hung’s numerous publications have addressed Asian American music and identity, and contemporary Chinese composers such as Tan Dun and Wu Man.
Hung will be a guest in a joint meeting of Ray Briggs’s Studies in Ethnomusicology seminar and Roger Hickman’s seminar on Romantic Music on Tuesday, September 19 from 4:00-6:45 in UMC-C403. Dr. Hung will lead students and faculty in discussions of his 2009 article on the Chinese piano virtuoso Lang Lang, and present his new research on Byron Au Yong’s musical Stuck Elevator (2013).
CSULB faculty and students are warmly invited to join. Please contact Elizabeth Lindau with questions, or for access to the music and article to be discussed.
