About Mike Finn
On the path to attaining his dream job of teaching learning disabled students at a large urban public high school, Mike Finn spent his twenties traveling the country, playing bass in a touring rock band. He shared stages with artists such as Willie Nelson, ZZ Top, Tom Petty, and Joe Ely. Eventually he settled in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles and today is a Resource Teacher and the Special Education Department Chair at John Marshall High in Los Feliz.
For the last 13 years he has taught a songwriting class in the music department at Marshall, in addition to co-producing the school’s year-long Battle of the Garage Bands program and its annual Bach, Rock, & Shakespeare show at the nearby Greek Theatre. For the last two years he has presented teacher workshops on his songwriting curriculum at the Little Kids Rock Rockfest in Fort Collins, Colorado.
It is rumored that he occasionally still writes songs and plays shows in the LA area.
