Bachelor of Music, Option in Performance—Concentration in Piano

The purpose of the Keyboard area is to develop and equip functional musicians who are prepared for the demands of today’s competitive job market as a performer and teacher, and for success in graduate schools. To these ends, the successful student will, during the course of their study, demonstrate an understanding of pedagogy, keyboard literature, keyboard skills, as well as performing ability as a soloist and collaborative keyboardist.

Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance

This highly selective program admits only students who demonstrate sufficient promise and accomplishment to pursue piano performance at an advanced level. Through working closely with artist teachers in a close-knit and supportive environment, the student will acquire experience in performing (and critical listening) in such opportunities as the weekly Piano Forum, guest masterclasses, chamber ensembles, and the semiannual Piano Showcase and Piano Plus! Concerts sponsored by the Conservatory.

Graduates of the MM program in piano are well prepared for professional opportunities in solo and collaborative playing and teaching in a variety of settings. Many of our students have also gone on to doctoral studies in piano at prestigious programs on the West Coast and throughout the U.S.
