A graduate of CSULB, Gerhard Guter is a composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and vocalist based in L.A. The producer of Vocalogy: Refilled, he has written music for The History Channel, World of Warcraft, and Celebrity Cruises.
Gerhard has taught over twenty-five different college-level courses. As Assistant Professor of Music Business and Jazz Studies at Elmhurst College, Guter co-authored Elmhurst’s minor in music production and created the Pitch Perfect seminar, a freshman college experience encompassing vocal music, music theory, and technology. Gerhard was faculty chair of the college’s technology committee and designed and maintained the Interactive Media Lab, a collaborative hub for cinema, computer science, and music majors.
He returns to CSULB, where he directed the Studio Jazz Band for three years, and for which he designed the four-semester curriculum in jazz piano and jazz theory in 2008. Guter’s arrangements are available through eJazzLines, Sound Music Publications, Matfal Music, and UNC Jazz Press. His current productions include Steampunk Scott: A Joplin Ragtime Experience.
