How to Apply

You can find out more about our program by reviewing our web page and contacting the graduate advisor.

To apply to the program, you'll need to complete an online application to the University, as well as a short, paper application to the Department. You can get the Department Application Packet by calling the office at (562) 985-4809, or by contacting the graduate advisor. With your application to the Department you will need to arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to us under separate cover, transcripts of all of your college work, and the official report of your score on the General test of the GRE.

If you wish to be considered for the Johnson-Conrey Fellowship, please also apply to the M.S. program following the standard process but also provide a written essay (approximate 1000 words) describing the how the Johnson Fellowship would help the student attain his or her professional goals. The essay should detail the student's projected research and professional interests as well as experiences that might indicate potential for success as a professional Geoscientist. Applications to the program and the requested essay are due no later than February 15 for the Fall Semester. Students are highly encouraged to discuss their interest in the program with faculty prior to that deadline.
