Carl W. Johnson-Bert Conrey Graduate Fellowship in Geological Sciences
As a result of the tremendous generosity of the Carl W. Johnson Foundation, the Department of Geological Sciences at the California State University Long Beach announces the availability of two prestigious scholarship positions for graduate studies within the Department. The scholarships support research for any field of study leading to a Master of Science Degree in Geological Sciences. Base funding is at $15,000 per year, renewable upon good progress for up to two years, but may be leveraged with teaching assistantships, research assistantships, or other funding sources.
To apply, students are requested to apply to the M.S. program following the standard process but also provide a written essay (approximate 1000 words) describing the how the Johnson Fellowship would help the student attain his or her professional goals. The essay should detail the student's projected research and professional interests as well as experiences that might indicate potential for success as a professional Geoscientist. For full consideration, applications to the program and the requested essay is due by February 15. Applications will continue to be reviewed until April 1. Students are highly encouraged to discuss their interest in the program with faculty prior to that deadline.
