Noelia V. Saenz received her Ph.D. in Critical Studies from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in August 2012. She specializes in the critical analysis of Spanish-language film and media produced in Spain and across the Hispanic Atlantic and focuses her research on the negotiation of Hispanidad, gender, and national identity in the contemporary era. She has published in Spectator: The University of Southern California Journal of Film and Television Criticism and Scope: An Online Journal of Film & TV Studies. Her essay on gender violence in the films of Pedro Almodóvar will be published in the forthcoming anthology, Companion to Pedro Almodóvar, edited by Marvin D'Lugo and Kathleen M. Vernon.
