Erin Hill worked in film and television production before pursuing study of the media industry. She lives in Los Angeles, where she continues freelance work in some of the professions she researches. Her recent book, Never Done: A History of Women's Work in Media Production (Rutgers University Press, 2016), examines the role of feminized labor in the history of the U.S. film and television industry. She received the 2015 Society for Cinema and Media Studies dissertation award for the research on which this book is based. Dr. Hill's other work has appeared in Making Media Work; The International Encyclopedia of Media Studies; Production Studies: Cultural Studies of Media Industries; and Reading Deadwood.

Dr. Hill has taught courses on contemporary Hollywood, film and TV history, media studies, and women's production history at Santa Monica College and UCLA, as well as for Dartmouth College's semester program in Los Angeles.
