Theatre Arts Scholarships

A number of theatre arts scholarships are made available each year for undergraduate and graduate Theatre Arts majors. All scholarships require students to be enrolled in the upcoming academic year as a Theatre Major with full-time enrollment. An application is required for consideration followed by an audition or portfolio review depending on the discipline.

Scholarships Available for 2015-16

Richard & Johanna Baker Scholarship

CRITERIA:

  • Undergraduate or graduate status
  • Outstanding professional promise
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Be enrolled on a full-time status for the fall and spring semesters of the following year
  • Registered student at time of application and selection
  • Must be enrolled at the time of selection

Dramatic Allied Arts Guild (DAAG)

CRITERIA:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Student must be entering junior or senior year
  • Student must be planning to enroll the following year on a full-time basis
  • Student must demonstrate artistic expression and technical expertise

FAA (Fine Arts Affiliates)

CRITERIA:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Student must be entering junior or senior year
  • Student must be planning to enroll the following year on a full-time basis
  • Student must demonstrate artistic expression and technical expertise

Martin Figoten Performing Arts Scholarship

CRITERIA:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Student must be a performing arts major
  • Student must be entering junior or senior year
  • Student must be planning to enroll the following year on a full-time basis
  • Student must demonstrate artistic expression and technical expertise
  • Student must be enrolled at the time of selection

Lana Alper Memorial Scholarship for Dance and Theater

Dance and Theatre

CRITERIA:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Theatre Arts student(s) must be a performance undergraduate major with an emphasis in musical theater
  • Dance student(s) must have an emphasis in contemporary not modern dance
  • Student must be planning to enroll the following year on a full-time basis
  • Student must demonstrate outstanding professional promise

Amy and Harvey Waggoner Scholarship

CRITERIA:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Student must be a performing arts major, preferably in the area of musical theatre
  • Student must be an accepted undergraduate major
  • Student must be entering junior or senior year
  • Student must be planning to enroll the following year on a full-time basis
  • Student must demonstrate artistic expression and technical expertise

The Julie Harris Drama Scholarship

CRITERIA:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Student must be a performance major
  • Undergraduate or graduate status
  • Student must be planning to enroll the following year on a full-time basis
  • Student must demonstrate outstanding professional promise

The Flora & Jerome Loeb Endowed Scholarship

CRITERIA:

Student must be enrolled in the MFA/MBA in Theater Management Program in good academic standing.

Rock Star Scholarship

CRITERIA:

  • Student must an acting or technical theatre major who demonstrates outstanding service to the department
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Undergraduate status

Shipwreck Drama Scholarship

CRITERIA:

  • Student must an acting or technical theatre major who demonstrates outstanding service to the department
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Undergraduate or graduate status

The Dr. Joanne Gordon Graduate Scholarship for Acting

CRITERIA:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Student must demonstrate outstanding artistic talent and ability
  • Student must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student in acting
  • Student must audition

The Fred Kobus Scholarship for Theatre Techs

CRITERIA:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Must be studying the area of stage design
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Undergraduate status
  • Student must be planning to enroll the following year on a full-time basis
  • Student must submit application and portfolio

The David Sievers Memorial Scholarship

CRITERIA:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Student must be newly accepted as a performance major
  • 1ST year undergraduate status with less than 20 units in Theatre Arts
  • Student must be planning to enroll the following year on a full-time basis
  • Student must demonstrate outstanding professional promise
  • Student must submit application and audition

Costume Scholarship

CRITERIA:

  • Must be a Theatre Arts major with a focus in costume design and technology
  • Must be at least a second year graduate student or third year undergraduate student
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Must plan to pursue a career in costume
  • Must exhibit a working knowledge of costume history, design, and technology
  • Must actively work on productions in a costume capacity
  • Must be actively studying in-class costume problems and solutions

Carol G. Polakoff Theatre Arts Award

CRITERIA:

  • Must be a undergraduate or graduate Theatre Arts major
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Provide meaningful contribution to academic, production, and/or department sponsored activities
  • Must audition and submit application

Theatre Arts Scholarship

CRITERIA:

  • Must be a undergraduate or graduate Theatre Arts major
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
