Preparing for Engineering Majors
It is important for students considering engineering majors to take as much math and science courses in high school. Following is a summary of some key classes that should be taken before college:
- Most engineering majors require four years of math, including Pre-Calculus, although Calculus or AP Calculus is strongly recommended. Also, most engineering majors require at least three years of science, including Physics and Chemistry.
- Good grades in challenging courses will give students an advantage, and taking high levels of math and science will make your introductory engineering classes at CSULB more manageable.
- Engineering is not just about math and science! Take all subjects seriously, especially English, because engineers need to be able to present and express themselves well. Effective communication is an important part of engineering.
